Why Run Free Ranch?

Run Free Ranch is a very unique camp experience. We have our annual summer camp for 5 days on Baldpate Mountain, NJ, where we hike, cook, learn about nutrition, our emotional makeup, and have 3-5 guest speakers during the week. This is all hands on, and very engaging. Graduate campers visit camp as Junior Counselors and help maintain all activities.

We also meet monthly throughout the year, which creates our unique camp experience. We visit museums, parks, artist studios, and points of interest within the region. A highlight for the campers is visiting New York City at Christmas time…for many campers this trip has been their first time to the Big Apple.  Our spring camping trip is also another huge outing of FUN!  We camp in tents, make our own food, and visit the surrounding areas sites.

Run Free Ranch is a 2 year commitment from each camper. They must commit to attending at least 70% of the monthly gatherings. Upon graduation, each camper is entitled to a week-long trip to Lake Lure, NC.  We stay in rustic cabins at an old Girl Scout Camp complete with spiders and critters. This is definitely out of everyone’s comfort zone!  But we have a blast hiking Chimney Rock Park, swimming and tubing on the lake, and visiting the Biltmore Mansion.

Our camp mantra is to “Try Everything Once”. And we sure live up to that in every way; from trying calamari, to ice skating, to swimming in a lake or ocean…the sky truly is the limit at RFR!!!
